  1. I don’t see any charity tournaments in the Upper Peninsula, even the casinos have dropped Hold’em Poker tournaments (Lac View Desert, Ojibwa Marquette & Baraga). We used to go to the Masonic Temple in Marquette, but that has also ended.

Wish there were some tournaments in the surrounding areas of the UP. I know many people would go. Any suggestions, ideas?

    • Rosemary,
I hope to expand UMP.com soon, especially after July 12th when the new rules come down. I am hoping more rooms open up this then and as they do, I will try to get them listed on this site. Thanks for your concern…maybe in the future we will see way more rooms. That is my hope at least!

  2. The Sportman’s Bar on Dequindre and Auburn Road – Rochester Hills, has the best run game in town. Nice dealers, management, as well as nice Bar Management. Great bunch of players. Always a good time, I can’t understand why this place isn’t packed every night.

    • Didn’t know they had poker there, what are the days and times it is open? Cash and tournaments or just tournaments.
Thanks, been looking for a close room..

      • Yes, Sportsmens is Open for Cash Games: Sunday – Tuesday from 5pm-2am Wednesday 5pm-Midnight and on Tuesday’s Omaha $1/$3. They do 7pm Tourneys at $100 buy-in the last time they were advertising with me, in January, but please call to confirm. The phone # is # (248) 761-2577. Good Luck!

  3. Sportman’s games have gone to pot (no pun intended). No one comes so, they have reduced the chips per player to 6,000 per player. Not as much fun, but the tourneys are finished in an hour and they don’t have to pay the dealers. They have runied an otherwise great time Reall too bad.

  4. They have Tournements and cash games at the 300 Bowl in Waterford. How do games get posted here. Do the Owners have to initiate them?

    • YES and NO. It is not just Owner, but also the Room Manager that has to buy in to advertising on UMP.com. In this case of 300 Bowl, I used to advertise for me when it was just Heather the decisions, but then she decided that Sandy the Room Manager had to get involved and for some reason…that’s when it went south. Sandy believes that the room does just fine without extra advertising, so therefore, she doesn’t want to pay me for advertising for her and 300 Bowl. I only charge $65/month which is nothing in comparison to how much these rooms make. I have talked to Sandy…if you know her and want to see 300 Bowl advertised on UMP…have her email me at jim@umichiganpoker.com or call me.
Thanks for the inquiry…I hope something comes out of this….JIM
